Stephens love affair with the iconic Empire State Building developed in 1986 when he was only twelve years old. Since then he has drawn multiple styles to adorn the beautiful structure. Over 20 years on, in 2017 he was invited and commissioned by The Empire State Trust to draw the New York Skyline in situ and in front of an audience. The newly redesigned 80th floor observatory of the Empire State Building, New York officially reopened bearing Stephens design based on his panorama drawing of the city. A childhood dream that became a reality.
